A stage for everyone
Indy Drag Theatre was conceived between Drew Bryson (Blair St. Clair) and Alyjah Duff (April Rosé) with the idea of merging theatre and drag in Indianapolis. That idea has grown into this wonderful organization. It is our hope to bring Hoosiers together by offering a safe space to become immersed in queer culture for both artists and audiences.
Drag is an artform that has always been a part of theatre, and allows people to play characters of any gender. We honor that tradition with what we do today, creating opportunities for for all types of gender expression in any role. There is drag in everyone, and drag is for everyone.
Under the costuming and wigs, we are Hoosiers with stories to share. This stage gives us the space to share those stories with you. This story is told through lip-synched performance, which may be something new to theatre-goers, but is part of the tradition of drag performance.
We hope that you enjoy this unique theatrical experience, and we invite you to be part of our community both on and off stage.

Indy Drag Theatre is proud to open our 2025 season with “Sweeney Todd: A Drag Parody Musical”. For those who have watched us grow over the years: thank you for your continued support. For our new friends: welcome to the world of IDT, where we pay homage to our favorite stage productions through an unapologetically queer, fabulous lens.
“Sweeney Todd” may seem a bit drab for our glittery cast, and admittedly I found the characters to be unlikeable martyrs and
rage-filled classists. Then I met our director, Max McCreary, who
invited me to consume the story with empathy in mind.At second glance, Sweeney’s story became hauntingly relatable. Cast out by a ruthless judge and robbed of a bright future, Sweeney embodies what can happen when we’re forced to hide: Anger. Bitterness. Revenge. I know how stifling it feels to keep your true self tucked away.
After a while, I found myself sympathetic to the lonely Judge Turpin, whose true desires would have stayed unfulfilled had he not taken his future into his own hands; and to Pirelli, who combats career shortcomings with a fierce rebrand and some showmanship. I was reminded that we all carry histories, fears, perspectives, motives…and when I shelve my own judgment I have a clearer view.
Now, I’m not saying these characters are heroes – and I’d pass on your offer for a meat pie – but I do encourage you to watch IDT’s “Sweeney Todd” with an open heart. As it turns out, the “miracle elixir” for perspective in a drab world is just a dash of glitter, a double-stacked wig, and a little bit of empathy.
Thank you for being here to witness what we’ve created together for “Sweeney Todd: A Drag Parody Musical”.
